This downloadable 20-page electronic audit tool allows you to evaluate your attendance provision against five key themes drawn from recent research:

Working through this comprehensive audit, in discussion with colleagues, will allow you to drill down to the detail of your policies and processes and compare with best practice in the field.
The audit is supported by SSAT’s comprehensive research summary report, presenting an overview of the key insights, findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the array of evidence-informed reports that have been published about pupil attendance and punctuality to school since 2019. The report presents our ‘best bets’ for supporting students to achieve their best possible attendance.

Having completed your self audit you may be seeking external assurance and challenge about your attendance policies and procedures.
Our Senior Education Lead specialising in attendance will work with you to review your policies and procedures, alongside your completed audit tool. We will do a through diagnostic review of your key documents and policies providing feedback in a comprehensive written report with action points.
Findings and feedback will be presented via an online meeting in which you will have the chance to ask questions and delve deeper into possible solutions.
Attendance Audit: Desktop and On-site Review

Schools and colleges seeking more thorough assurance and challenge can request a visit from our attendance lead. This process begins with the completion of our audit tool and a desktop review.
Having built a picture of your school and setting through the audit and review process, our Senior Education Lead will visit your school to meet with a range of stakeholders to get to grips with how policies are enacted on the ground.
Over a half-day visit we will meet with strategic leaders for attendance, pastoral and subject leaders, standard scale staff and students to explore their experience and perceptions of attendance and punctuality at your setting.
Leaders will receive verbal feedback on the day and a comprehensive written report with recommendations for action to conclude the review.
