From a council estate in Tower Hamlets, to studying English at Oxford: how Zero Gravity helped to unleash Fiona Zeka’s potential

Born to Kosovan refugees who moved to the UK with limited resources, Fiona knew that getting to Oxford University was far from a done deal.

So, with an unbending desire to make her parents proud, she Googled: ‘How to get into Oxford’ and Zero Gravity came up.

She applied to the platform, and after a quick eligibility check, unlocked her free membership. Fiona was then matched with an incredible Zero Gravity mentor who was also studying English at Oxford, as well as provided with a busy schedule of masterclasses and a membership community of thousands of like-minded sixth formers all wanting to defy the odds and get the opportunities that they deserve.

“My mentor, Susie, was incredible. An amazing, amazing woman. Despite the fact that I was in year 12 and she was at university doing exams, she took me on and did weekly, sometimes biweekly sessions with me, and gave me so much time and energy.”

Now in her second year at Oxford, Fiona reflects on her experience with Zero Gravity:

“Every day at university, I think about the dedication of these mentors I had: balancing an Oxford degree and still taking time out to help someone – it’s just amazing. Zero Gravity attracts people who really want to do good in the world.”

But Fiona’s story is just one of many incredible anecdotes from talented students who have defied the odds with Zero Gravity. To date, Zero Gravity has supported 8,000+ students into a competitive university, including 800+ into Oxbridge, doubling their chances in the process. Once they’re in, they unlock exclusive career opportunities too, ensuring that they can continue their success in breaking into a top career.

The best thing? It’s free for schools and students, forever.
