Chartered College of Teaching and SSAT launch new CPD partnership to improve formative assessment

A new partnership between the Chartered College of Teaching and SSAT will support teachers to embed formative assessment practices in their classrooms.

SSAT’s flagship CPD programme, Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA), was originally developed by Professor Dylan Wiliam. It is a two year whole-school programme using teacher learning communities to explore and embed effective formative assessment techniques. Teachers take part in cycles of deliberate practice, trialling formative assessment strategies, collaborating with colleagues to reflect on practice and evidence, and being challenged to deepen their knowledge and refine their teaching. Based on over 25 years of research, EFA has shown to deliver up to 25% improvement in learning outcomes for only 1% of teachers’ time.

By completing SSAT’s EFA programme, teachers will be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Certificated Learning (RPCL) and 20 credits towards Chartered Teacher status.
