Student Leadership Audit

This audit is designed to help secondary schools evaluate the impact of student voice and leadership activities across their school and can be used by students and staff working together.

Student impact is defined as the effect when students have a real influence on their own and others’ learning experiences through meaningful student voice and leadership.

Structured in three sections the audit covers:

• the depth of student impact
• the breadth of student impact
• a framework for moving forward.

Members have used the Audit in a range of ways to support conversations in their school. Here are a few of the ideas we have seen so far:

• working with students to evaluate how student impact groups operate, their collaboration levels, and their communication with staff.
• Student leadership coordinators benchmark the school’s current areas of strength and weakness, and set clear objectives.
• In conversations supporting the resourcing of student impact initiatives financially, staffing and resources (eg. rooms and equipment)

The audit tool is an SSAT member benefit for all staff located in SSAT member schools’ and is for internal use only.
